Bugs

We are convinced that some day Jake is going to be the Orkin man. The kid eats (well, not actually - to my knowing), breaths, and sleeps BUGS. We have multiple bug cages. He feeds his bugs, waters them, and on occasion has wanted to give them baths. Well, on the way to pick up Jenna from school yesterday, he wanted to bring his pet "paterpiller". He took the caterpiller out of the cage and wanted to carry him in his hand. O.K., all-right, whatever... we need to get going or we're going to be late picking up Jenna. He wanted to ride in the stoller, so he could hold his pet "paterpiller". This was great. We head out and when we are just about to our meeting spot, he drops his pet, "paterpiller". Not on the sidewalk, or in the stroller. He drops his green with black striped caterpiller in the green grass that has grown so long because of all the lovely rain that we've had. Talk about a melt down. The poor boy was traumatized that he lost his pet "paterpiller". We searched and searched with no luck. He cried and cried. I did feel bad. But, after explaining what I was doing (as I sat there combing every last inch of the grass where he had lost him) to all the moms walking by, I was getting a little frustrated and embarrassed. Oh, what a mom does not do for her children. Well, much to Jake's dismay, we did not find his pet. But, mom did come to the rescue when we got home and I was able to find another one exactly the same in my geranium plant on the front stoop. The day was saved!!!

Our First Sleepover

Jenna and Kyndal decided that at the big age of 6, it was time for their first sleepover. Tiffanie and I agreed that this would probably be OK. They played Barbies, made homeade pizza for dinner, washed each others hair in the tub, and then after much excitement... it was time for bed! Storytime went well, we got the nightlights all figured out to each girls liking, and everyone was kissed goodnight and tucked in for a long nights sleep. (So, I thought.) It was harder falling asleep than was anticipated. After about an hour of trying to ease everyone's concerns and comfort them back into bed, Tiffanie ended up with the 11 pm phone call. The BIG sleepover was so much fun and next time, it may actually be all night!
